Quench Oil Case Study
ISSUE: Severe oil contamination had been plaguing a machine tool manufacturer with an average weekly metal pass through of 30,000 lbs per week. Both water and particulate contamination was causing high rejection rates due to non-uniform hardness, cracking and stained parts. To address the issue and improve the quality of the parts, they just disposed of the quench oil and replaced it with new oil every two to three months.
SOLUTION: They installed a Model 265 Quench Oil Filtration System and began to continuously filter a new batch of quench oil. The oil quality improved dramatically which significantly decreased the rejection rate. The oil life jumped to more than 2 years with filter changes only every 4-5 months.
